KARACHI: Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) is well set to achieve Rs78 billion collection target set for current fiscal year, a statement said on Wednesday.

“Revenue collection in the first seven months of this fiscal year grew by 21 percent compared to the same period last year during which the SRB had collected a total of Rs61 billion, “Chairman SRB Khalid Mehmood said at a meeting with business community of SITE Association.

He assured the businessmen that budget proposals would be formulated after consultation with business community.

“Taxpayers' facilitation is the priority of the board,” he said, adding, the issues of tax collection with regard to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) would also be resolved soon.

Replying to a question, Mehmood clarified the SRB was not pressuring the business community through notices.

Speaking on the occasion, SITE Association President Asad Nasir said the business community was ready to pay taxes, but first both federal and provincial revenue authorities should define their jurisdictions.

“The business community is already paying Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) along with income tax to the FBR but the SRB is also demanding the same,” said he.
