International cricket in Pakistan
LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan says that the holding of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final in Lahore will convince the world that international cricket can be played in the country safely.
Shaharyar said that foolproof security would be provided to teams and fans for the PSL final.Talking to media here at the Gaddafi Stadium, he said that PSL final in Lahore was going to be a big step forward. “The PSL final surely will be held in Lahore and all the people are supporting us, the government, Rangers, Police, intelligence.
“Obviously we are worried but hopefully everything will be all right,” he said. “If the PSL final is held successfully, foreign teams will visit Pakistan,” Shaharyar stressed.
He further stated that sale of tickets would be announced in two days. “We are receiving a large number of calls for tickets and complementary passes,” he said. “Security risk is there but our security agencies will surely make proper arrangements.
“International players are being given assurance of state-level security arrangements,” Shaharyar added. On Monday, all franchises participating in the PSL in principle agreed to play the final in Lahore, as planned by the PCB.
