PESHAWAR: A nine-member delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Thursday visited the Army Public School and College to pay tributes to the martyrs of the December 16 attack and express solidarity with the students.
The delegation included Rasheed Godil, Dr Farooq Sattar, Babar Ghuri, Kishwar Zahra, Saman Jaffari, Rehan Hashmi, Asif Hasnain, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif and a few students of Karachi, including Parveen, a class fellow of Malala Yousafzai.
The delegation members met students and principal of the school. They offered sympathies of the MQM over the tragic incident. The MQM leaders also presented a photo album to school administration about a rally arranged by MQM soon after the APS carnage.
Talking to media, Dr Farooq Sattar said the government must award Sitar-e-Imtiaz to martyrs of the incident and announce Hilal-e-Imtiaz for the brave residents of Peshawar. He said that after the APS attack all political parties had come on one page regarding militancy and terrorism.
Dr Farooq demanded the government to take tangible steps for the elimination of terrorists from the country. He said the MQM has always had a bold stance on terrorism and militancy. It would continue its struggle till elimination of the scourge of religious extremism.
Baber Ghauri lauded the bravery of the children who resumed their studies in less than a month after the attack. The MQM leader said no action had been taken against the extremists after one month of the incident. He demanded concrete steps against the enemies of humanity.
