The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has claimed none of the capital city’s government schools is seeking money from students for security checks on the premises.
“All federal government schools (in Islamabad) offer education free of charge, so any of them charging security fee is out of the question,” FDE focal person on security Tanveer Ahmad Malik told ‘The News’ on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, some parents contacted ‘The News’ and complained on condition of anonymity that their children enrolled in an Islamabad Model College for Girls had been asked in writing to deposit security fee with the administration. The FDE focal person said he had checked the matter with the college’s principal, who denied out right the introduction of security charges for students and teachers.
A spokesman for the Capital Administration and Development Division, which oversees the city’s government schools and colleges through the FDE, said the division bore the expenses of the measures being taken for the security of local government educational institutions.
