Two schools under illegal occupation were reclaimed by authorities on Monday
after Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul- Ebad was spurned into action by some harsh criticism from Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain.
Incensed over reports of illegal possession of the Asif Boys School and Akhter Girls Secondary School in Shah Faisal’s Green Town area, Altaf categorically told the governor to tender his resignation if he could not reclaim the schools.
Soon after Altaf’s admonition, Ebad visited the schools to ascertain the situation and issued instructions for immediate action.
According to a spokesperson of the education ministry, Sindh Senior Education Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro had also taken notice of the issue and authorised law enforcers to vacate the premises immediately.
The MQM chief also called for alternate arrangements for students until the reconstruction was completed and vowed that he would ensure the process was finished as soon as possible.
