Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s assets value has come down slightly from last year’s Rs1.86 billion, which include agriculture land worth Rs1 billion and Rs250 million property at Upper Mall, reveals the details of his assets released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Thursday.
The ECP has made public details of the assets and liabilities of the members of Parliament and MPAs, belonging to the four provincial assemblies.
The prime minister has also made investment jointly with his spouse valuing Rs130 million. His wife also owns Rs100 million banglow in Murree. Nawaz Sharif also possesses four vehicles having value of over Rs10 million.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan owns a 300-kanal property at Bani Gala besides seven-kanal land at Zaman Park. The value of his assets is estimated to be Rs33.4 million. He also owns a vehicle worth Rs5 million.
Imran Khan has agriculture land in Bhakkar and his native town Mianwali. He also owns two cows and a buffalo.
Independent MNA Jamshaid Dasti managed to maintain his unique position of being the poorest member of the 342-member National Assembly. He owns no property and has no source of livelihood except drawing his salary package as MNA.
A cursory look at the assets details of the lawmakers makes one thing very clear that overwhelming majority is wealthy. Many of them are land lords, growers and businessmen.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar owns assets worth over Rs700 million while PTI’s senior leader Asad Umar is not behind, having assets of Rs680 million.
Pakistan Muslim League President Senator Ch Shujaat Hussain’s assets value is estimated to be Rs100 million. He owns two residences in Islamabad and Lahore.
Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan has Rs5.3 million bank balance besides 650-kanal land, most of which he has inherited. He also owns Mercedez and Prado vehicles.
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has assets worth Rs6.7 million: Rs1 million in banks and jewellery worth Rs0.95 million.
