Air Tech’16 concludes

Students actively participate in three-day hi-tech Olympiad by Air University

ISLAMABAD: Air Tech’16, a unique technological Olympiad concluded successfully on Saturday. The event featured 22 hi-tech competitions, three technical workshops, an Air tech show and the project exhibition.

A total of 290 teams from 35 universities across Pakistan, comprising 1,500 contestants participated in various events at Air Tech’16.

In the first half of the concluding day of Air Tech, final rounds of different interesting contests like speed programming, robotics competition, bridge making etc were held.

Second half of the day started with ‘Air-Tech Show, followed by the closing ceremony. The chief guest of the show and the ceremony was Vice Chancellor Air University, Air Vice Marshal (r) Faaiz Amir. Among other dignitaries and officials included HOD Electrical Engineering Air Vice Marshal (r) Saleem Tariq, Director Academics, Air Vice Marshal (r)Tariq Mateen, Registrar Air University Air Commodore (r) Muhammad Saleem, HoD Mechanical Group Captain (r) Dr. Nazir Malik, HoD Mathematics Dr. Nabeela, and Deputy Director Student Affairs Fazaila Ali Qazi.

The Air Tech Show featured highly innovative technological projects exhibition where students of different universities showcased their technology based innovations.

The Air Tech show had a very interesting drone flying competition, followed by the most thrilling robotics war.

The closing ceremony started with the Air Tech event highlights. During the ceremony the audience was entertained by the live showing of the final round of another interesting robotics competition, the Air Bot, through live video streaming. The event report was presented by the president Air Tech’16. Deputy Director Student Affairs, Fazaila Ali Qazi had the note of thanks and acknowledgment to all the guests, participants and particularly The Jang Media Group being the official media partner for Air Tech’16.

The chief guest of the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Air University, Air Vice Marshal (r) Faaiz Amir. gave his keynote address.

In his address, he appreciated the efforts of the entire team Air Tech 2016 for putting their heart and soul in to the event and making it a great success.

He wished to have Air Tech 2017 on international level and gave a challenge to the local participants to prepare themselves to compete with international teams next time. He also advised participants to create, innovate and utilize technology for the betterment, development and the service of community and humanity. At the end of his address, the VC Air University, AVM (r) Faaiz Amir announced Rs50, 000 in an appreciation of the Air Tech organising team.

Next was the most awaited part of the ceremony, the announcement of winning teams and the prize distribution for all the 22 categories of the event.

The chief guest distributed the shields and the prize money among the winners and runners up. A total of Rs600, 000 was distributed among the winners as the prize money.

Air Bot, one of the robotics competition which comprised 27 teams was won by UET, Faisalabad, while EME, NUST secured the runner up position. In Robo War, the robotics wrestling competition, the team UET Taxila was the winner while FAST University, Islamabad were the runner up. In Air Thon, the robotics line following competition, Air University won the competition while Islamic International University was the runner up. In Air Speed, the Speed Programming competition, the winner was Wah Engineering College, while Air University remained the runner up.

The drone flying competition was won by CASE. 

In rocket flying competition, CAE Risalpur Academy were among the winners and runner up also. Glider competition was won by Air University while the winning project belonged to NUST and EME secured second position.

Among the participating universities included NUST, EME, CASE, IST, FAST Islamabad, IIUI, Mehran University Jamshoro Sindh, UET Faisalabad, UET Taxilla, Air University Multan Campus, Hazara University Mansehra, Comsats Attock, Comsats Wah cantt, Wah Engineering College, Bilquis College, University of Lahore, Punjab Group of Colleges, Saint Mary’s College etc.
