Rain, snowfall in KP Malakand Division blessed with rainfall
DIR/MINGORA: Many parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the adjoining Federally Administered Tribal Areas on Saturday received rain and snowfall to break the drought-like conditions.
The rain heralded the onset of winter in the real sense and forced the dwellers of the mountainous areas to stay indoors.The faithful had been praying for rains. Nimaz-i-Istisqa was offered in Peshawar and many other cities and villages in recent weeks as the absence of rains had caused concern about the failure of crops and the high incidence of seasonal diseases.
However, many parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata didn’t get the rain. The weather was chilly in these places due to the clouds and a slight drizzle, but people there were hoping and praying for proper rains. The Lowari Top that offers the road link to Chitral district and mountainous areas in Upper Dir received the first snowfall of the winter on Saturday.

According to the Met Office, Upper Dir received 13 millimeters of rain.Many people commented that the long dry spell had finally come to an end and the winter had set in.
The Lowari Top received up to five to seven inches of snowfall. The mountains in Chitral also received snowfall and the Lowari Top was closed for traffic.The passengers, including women, children and elderly people, complained that they weren’t allowed to travel through the Lowari tunnel to reach their destinations in time.
The light rain started in Peshawar at around 4:20 pm and the city overall received 2 millimeter rain.
MINGORA: The weather turned chilly after various areas in Swat district received rain and snowfall. Mingora, Kabal, Charbagh, Khwazakhela, Matta, Barikot, Madyan, Bahrain, Kalam and most others areas in Swat received intermittent rain. The mountains in certain areas turned white due to the snowfall.
MANSEHRA: The plans in Mansehra, Torghar and Kohistan districts received light rains, which started in the evening and continued intermittently at night. The snowfall was started in mountainous areas in Kaghan, Siran and Konsh valleys of the Mansehra district.
PARACHINAR: The long dry spell ended as many areas in Kurram Agency received rain and snowfall.Parachinar, Zeran, Karman, Shalozan and other places in the plains of Kurram Agency were blessed with rain while the Koh-e-Sufaid mountains range that serves as a the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan received snowfall.
