President approves Justice Saqib Nisar as next CJ
ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday formally approved the appointment of senior judge of the Supreme Court Justice Mian Saqib Nisar as the next Chief Justice of Pakistan.
The Law Ministry has issued a notification in this regard. According to the notification, Justice Nisar will take charge as chief justice of the apex court on Dec 31. The notification was issued after approval from President Mamnoon Hussain.
Justice Nisar will replace Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali who is set to retire on December 30. In April this year, the senior SC judge took oath as the acting Chief Justice of Pakistan in Islamabad on account of CJP Anwar Zaheer Jamali’s seven-day official visit to Turkey.
Justice Nisar was born in 1954 in Lahore and passed his matriculation from the Cathedral High School Lahore. He completed his Bachelor of Law from the University of Punjab in 1980 and joined legal profession as an advocate in May 1980. -
