The Sindh High Court directed a law officer on Wednesday to submit the provincial government’s policy on providing security to citizens and politicians facing death threats.
The directive came at a hearing of a petition of former federal minister Sardar Nabeel Gabol seeking government security.
Gabool said in his petition that he had been receiving threats since leaving the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in February last from founder Altaf Hussain and other leaders of the party.
He submitted that his life was in danger because security provided by the provincial government had been withdrawn. He asked the court to direct the paramilitary Rangers to provide him with security.
Additional Advocate General Mustafa Mahesar told the court that the government would make a policy for providing security to citizens, including politicians, who were under threat, and sought time to submit it.
