A tale of scarcity
Water is the most important commodity, but unfortunately no appropriate steps have been taken for the distribution of this basic amenity in Karachi. Because of this, the people of the metropolitan city are devoid of clean water. The irregularity in the distribution of water has led the city to the brink of being a water-starved city. In some areas, the supply of water is abundant while in others areas, a few drops of water are inaccessible. Due to old and wired pipelines most of the areas do not get sufficient water. As a result, citizens are bounded to pay a huge amount of money to the ‘tanker mafia’ to get the water supply.
Karachi does not have the scarcity of water, but due to severe mismanagement; the people of the city face serious problems. Since water is one of the essentials of life, the government is required to ensure adequate and just distribution of water to the entire city.
