Khattak alleges ANP govt launched projects to make money
Claims previous rulers didn’t allocate funds for hydel projects
NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Monday that the previous Awami National Party-led provincial government didn’t allocate funds for hydel projects such as the 84-megawatt Mataltan hydropower project in Swat.
Responding to ANP’s allegations that Mataltan power project was inaugurated by former chief minister Ameer Haider Hoti, he said it was merely an inauguration and nothing more. We have done inauguration of the project in the real sense and it is a step towards its completion,” he stressed.
Talking to reporters in his native Nowshera, the chief minister alleged that previous ANP-PPP coalition government launched projects and kept the exact allocations hidden to loot the funds. “In fact, there were no allocations as the plaques were installed to embezzle funds,” he alleged.
The chief minister came down hard on the ANP leaders and reminded them of corruption allegations levelled by late Azam Khan Hoti and Begum Naseem Wali Khan against the party leadership. “The former chief minister’s father revealed complete story of the ANP leadership’s corruption while Begum Naseem Wali unveiled Asfandyar Khan’s corruption,” he maintained.
Continuing his tirade against the ANP, Pervez Khattak claimed that its leaders compromised on the rights of the province and merit was brazenly violated as the “blue-eyed” were inducted in every department. “The province was burning, but they were busy looting its resources,” he alleged.
He said those who were voted to power to secure the rights of the Pakhtuns have forgotten their past but the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa still remembered their corrupt practices. “They compromised on the rights of Pakhtuns for the sake of dollars,” he said, adding, that projects were launched to commit loot and plunder.
“Everyone knows about the quality of the projects that were completed during the previous government’s rule,” he said. He added that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led government inherited a host of problems from the previous rulers belonging to the ANP.
He said his government was showing the people the true picture of the so-called champions of the Pakhtuns’ rights. Chief Minister Pervez Khattak claimed that the people voted the PTI to power to bring about change and ensure good governance.
