Tribal students demand increase in Punjab schools’ quota
PESHAWAR: Students from Waziristan Agency have demanded Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to increase the quota for tribal students in Danish Schools in Punjab province.A group of students belonging to Waziristan tribal region gathered near Peshawar Press Club on Sunday. They were holding banners inscribed with demand of increase in quota for students from Waziristan in Danish Schools. They also asked the Punjab government to accommodate more students in the schools and increase the quota reserved for the students of tribal areas. They said tribal students were already lacking education facilities and the militancy had added to their sense of deprivation. Majority of the children from the tribal areas were out of schools either due to migration from their areas or lack of educational institutions, they added. They said that along with the federal government, the provinces should accommodate maximum students in the schools. They demanded the Punjab chief minister to heed their demand and enhance the quota for them in Danish Schools in his province. They expressed the hope their demand would be considered and the seats reserved for tribal students, especially from the worst-affected Waziristan, would be increased.
