Govt to bring legislation for eunuchs rights

Islamabad: The government is planning to bring legislation to protect the rights of Khawaja Saras (eunuchs). 

The information was shared by speakers at an awareness seminar titled “The Social Issues of Khawaja Saras (eunuchs) in Pakistan and their Possible Solutions” organised by National Council of Social Welfare. Dr. Nadeem Shafiq Malik, Chairman, National Council of Social Welfare (NCSW) chaired the seminar. Representatives of civil society, NGOs, students and other stakeholders attended the seminar.

Speaking on this occasion, NCSW Chairman Dr. Nadeem Shafiq Malik said Islam is the religion of humanity and its message is clear that all humans are equal. “Those societies are strong where family system is strong. It is very unfortunate that our behaviour and attitude with Khawaja Saras (eunuchs) are not human.

He said that Pakistan’s constitution protects basic human rights of all the citizens of Pakistan including Khawaja Saras (eunuchs). “In the light of Supreme Court judgment, the rights of provision of National Identity Card, right to vote and inherit property are given to them.
