Let Gen Bajwa speed up action against terrorists: US
Congratulates new COAS
WASHINGTON: The United States has congratulated General Qamar Javed Bajwa on his appointment as the new army chief. Addressing a media briefing here, State Department Spokesman Mark Toner said the United States is working closely with Pakistan in the field of counterterrorism.
Speaking about the appointment of the new army chief, the spokesman said, “He has just been appointed at the end of November, so let’s give this gentleman a chance to get up to speed but we certainly congratulate him on the appointment and welcome this transition to a new Chief of Army Staff.”
Talking about Pakistan’s gains and contributions in the war against terrorism, Toner said Pakistan had suffered a lot from the menace of terrorism and it was in the interest of Pakistan to also crackdown on terrorist groups.
To a question that terrorists get training in Pakistan and then hit the US interests across the world, the US spokesman said these were mere allegations as the law enforcement agencies had not been able to confirm these allegations.
