Institutions silent over biggest corruption scandal: Bilawal
Our PM sent home for not writing a letter; warns PM of ‘Damadam Mast Qalandar’ if four demands of PPP aren’t accepted
LAHORE: Demanding the accountability of sacred cows, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday warned of a revolution by Bhutto’s Army if the nation was constantly denied justice over the Panama Papers and other issues.
“Justice delayed is justice denied. Executions are for Bhutto and amnesty is for the assassins of Shaheed Benazir. Aasia and other women are denied justice in the country but the prime minister’s family enjoys immunity,” remarked Bilawal.
“F-16s are used against Akbar Bugti but security is provided to the banned outfits. Panama Papers is a mega scam but our courts were and are silent. What kind of justice is that? There must be an action against the sacred cows,” he said, addressing a gathering at the Bilawal House on the 49th Foundation Day of the PPP.
The PPP chairman warned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of ‘Damadam Mast Qalandar’ (protest) across the country if he didn’t meet his party’s four demands.“I am demanding accountability through the democratic process,” said Bilawal, as he criticised the institutions over, what he called, their silence.
He said his father (Asif Zardari) was kept in jail for 12 years without any crime, adding, “Our Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani was convicted just for not writing a letter.”
Bilawal said it seemed that Nawaz wasn’t willing to meet the PPP’s four demands. “There would be ‘Damadam Mast Qalandar’ on the streets if the prime minister doesn’t accept these demands,” he added.
Bilawal said the PPP under his leadership wouldn’t let anyone rig the 2018 polls. “Dec 27 isn’t too far. Bhutto’s fresh army is all set to come out on roads and once it takes to streets, the tiger will not be allowed to run away from the country in the guise of a cat. Takht-e-Raiwind would be toppled with the force of PPP workers,” he claimed.
Bilawal vowed to bring reforms within and outside the party after coming to power. He said he had brought changes in PPP while appointing the youngest chief minister of Sindh. He said his party would make social, political, economic and judicial reforms in the country as it wanted the transfer of power to masses in letter and spirit like it did in its previous tenure in form of the 18th Amendment. The PPP would be a party of the new generation, he remarked.
Bilawal said it was the PPP which transferred power to masses, gave rights to the Baloch people through the Balochistan package, started work of CPEC and handed over Gwadar to China but the PPP government was termed a failure despite all the achievements.
He said when the PPP assumed power in 2008, the country was passing through the most turbulent phase of history but it was Zardari who chanted the slogan of Pakistan Khappay. The PPP was a chain uniting all the federating units.
He said when Benazir Bhutto arrived in Lahore on April 10, 1986 she was accorded an enthusiastic reception by the people of the city for whom he (Bilawal) had great love and regards. He said Benazir in 1986 could have staged a sit-in in Rawalpindi but proved that the PPP believed in change through democratic means.
