Husband prime suspect as woman found strangled to death

The five-day-old body of a woman - who doctors say was strangled to death - was found on Wednesday from inside her house situated near Malir Chowk, Sector 4-F in Orangi Town.

The woman identified as 20-year-old Aleema was feared to have been killed by her husband, Akhtar, who had apparently fled with their year-old son, and was yet to be located.

SHO Sabir Khattak of the Mominabad police station said the police received information of the woman’s body lying inside the house on Wednesday afternoon.

Her body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for post-mortem examination; according to the medical report the body was at least five days old.

The family, police said hailed from Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and had moved to the house some 15 days ago.

 

Robbery resistance

Iman Ayyaz, 28, was shot dead in block 5 of Shah Faisal Colony outside his general store, on late Tuesday night.

According to Shah Faisal police station SHO, Athar Malik, the police had rushed to the spot after the incident and shifted Ayyaz to the JPMC in an injured condition. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The police said that the deceased was shot by robbers who had barged inside his shop. However, Ayyaz was reported to have resisted the dacoits on which one of them opened fire on him. A case was reported and investigations are underway.
