PPP to decide on Zardari’s return, says Bilawal

Says he is observing whether weather of Karachi was conducive for him or that of Lahore

LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party will make a decision on Asif Ali Zardari’s return, said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari adding he (Bilawal) was checking whether the weather of Karachi was conducive for him or that of Lahore.

He said Interior Minister Ch Nisar had failed miserably and the National Action Plan had not been implemented under the present government.Bilawal, who is currently staying in Lahore and looking after the party affairs of Punjab, also visited the Imambargah Darbar-e-Hussain on the Bedian Road in connection with the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS).

He was flanked by newly-elected president PPP central Punjab Qamar Zaman Kaira, general secretary Nadeem Afzal Chan, secretary information Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, former deputy speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi, former deputy secretary information Hyder Zaman Qureshi and others. Bilawal also attended the Majlis and later spent time at the ‘Dera’ of party member Ashraf Bhatti, where workers also called on him.

Talking to reporters, Bilawal stated it was the discretion of the prime minister to decide about the appointment of the new army chief but stressed the decision should be based on merit, which was in the interest of the institution. He also stated to ensure the process of accountability and said the PPP had come up with a four-point formula and the government must fulfill its demands. To a question about Imran Khan, Bilawal said he didn’t want to comment further on ‘Chacha’ (uncle) and said there were also other issues in the country.

Bilawal also went to the residence of former chairperson of the Supreme Court Bar Association and human rights activist Asma Jehangir. He is also likely to spend the Foundation Day of the party being held on November 30 in Lahore.
