On the directions of the Punjab chief minister, the District Coordination Officer (Rawalpindi) Talat Gondal has taken notice of the matter of non-payment of pensions to the retired government servants for the last 9 months .
The president of Pensioners Action Committee, Tahir Mahmood Khan told ‘The News’ on Friday that during their meeting, the DCO assured that maximum outstanding dues would be paid to the retired government employees of the local government departments within next one month. Work is being done in this regard, Tahir Mahmood Khan quoting, the DCO said.
In this connection, the representatives of the Pensioners Action Committee would hold another meeting with the DCO today (Saturday). He said that after the meeting he would reveal to the media that how much mdues are to be paid to pensioners by next month. Due to non-payment of pensions, the retired government servants are suffering financially over the last nine months and if another one month is taken to clear the dues then the retired employees would be burdened off further, he said.
