LHC sesquicentennial celebrations plans finalised

BAHAWALPUR: The district judiciary has finalized various programmes in connection with sesquicentennial celebrations of the Lahore High Court in the district

Senior Civil Judge Alam Sher in a circular stated that a judicial conference titled ‘upholding rule of law’ would be held at on November 12 at the auditorium of Quaid-e-Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur at 3:00 PM and a cricket match would be played between district judiciary and district bar Bahawalpur on November 13 at 10:00 AM at Dring Stadium Bahawalpur.

Similarly, he stated a delegation of school children would visit district courts on November 14 at 9:30 AM.

3 UPLIFT PROJECTS INAUGURATED: Minister of State for Higher Education and Interior Engineer Baleegh-ur-Rehman Wednesday inaugurated three developmental projects that are completed with Rs 5.3 million in district Bahawalpur.

He inaugurated a project of provision of electricity, sewerage and a laying of soling completed with development fund amounting to Rs 3.5 million at Basti Kacholian, 10/BC and Dera Bakha.

Later, the minister inaugurated a newly completed sewerage and soling project with the allocation of Rs. 1 million and 0.8 million, respectively.

 

Four terrorists held with hand-grenades

BAHAWALPUR: The CTD Bahawalnagar on Wednesday arrested four alleged terrorists of a band outfit from Bahawalnagar-Arifwala Bypass Road.

According to the CTD source, the accused were allegedly planning for terrorism at Bahawalnagar city and its surrounding areas. The CTD also recovered 3kg explosive material, five hand-grenades and other material from them. The accused were identified as Muhammad Ramzan, Bahadur Ali, Muhammad Yaqoob and Muhammad Younis. The alleged terrorists have been shifted to some unknown place for further interrogation. The police have registered a case.

 

Setting dogs on woman

Two landlord brothers among three arrested

BAHAWALPUR: Kot Subzal police on Wednesday arrested two landlord brothers who had set dogs on a woman, which caused her death at Chak 179 on Tuesday.

According to a spokesman for the Rahimyar Khan DPO office, the police arrested Shakir Ali and Yasir Ali and their servant for setting dogs on Safia Bibi who was passing through their fields.
