The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority has directed all private educational institutions of the ICT to fill in security check lists and submit them to it without delay.
The directions come ahead of the start of the ‘security audit’ of schools and colleges in ICT urban and rural areas to identify risks to their safety. The security check list given to educational institutions seek information about boundary walls, security guards, metal detectors, walk-through gates, closed-circuit television cameras, emergency exits, and owners of private vans engaged by students.
According to PEIRA Chairman Imtiaz Ali Qureshi, teams from the office of the AIG of Islamabad Police (Special Branch) along with representatives of the DC, operations division, traffic police and relevant police stations will visit educational institutions from 8am to sunset. In this light, management of all private educational institutions should make necessary arrangements to ensure that security audit of their premises is conducted smoothly.
