Plans underway for LHC sesquicentennial celebrations

BAHAWALPUR: Special ceremonies are being planned pertaining to sesquicentennial celebrations of the Lahore High Court at the district courts.
Talking to reporters District and Sessions Judge Bahawalpur Rehan Bashir said the celebrations were aimed at acknowledging services of judges and staff of the LHC during the period of 150 years.
According to the programme, under the directions of the D&S judge a judicial moot would be held on November 12, a cricket match would be played between members of the bench and bar on November 13 and students of various schools would visit the district courts on November 14.
MAN DIES IN ACCIDENT: A man died and seven others sustained critical injuries in a road accident on Thursday night.
Reportedly, a speeding vehicle hit a motorcycle rickshaw on Hasilpur-Chishtian Road near Matyanabad, leaving a man dead and seven others injured.
After the accident, the van driver fled leaving the injured on the road.
The injured were rushed to the THQ Hospital, Chishtian and two critically injured were referred to BVH.
JAIL VISITED: District and Sessions Judge Bahawalpur Rehan Bashir and District and Sessions Judge Lodhran Haroon Latif Khan visited the Borstle Institute and Juvenile Jail, Bahawalpur on Friday. They listened issues of inmate children and issued directions to resolve them.
