LAHORE: The Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal has promised that National Geographic’s famed ‘Afghan girl’, Sharbat Gula, will be released from the Pakistani jail soon. Zakhilwal said the Embassy of Afghanistan has not been informed regarding the arrest of Gula and her family so far. He said the Embassy of Afghanistan has ascertained the location where Gula is detained as he assured that steps would be taken soon to release her from the prison. Gula has been residing together with her sons in Nasir Bagh camp established for Afghan refugees since she moved to Peshawar in 1984.
