Security up in Khyber Agency after polio worker killed
LANDIKOTAL: The authorities beefed up security in Khyber Agency on Thursday a day after a polio worker was killed in an attack in Jamrud tehsil.
Political Agent of Khyber Agency Khalid Mehmood told The News that they provided foolproof security to the health teams administering polio drops to 0.2 million children in the three tehslils of Khyber Agency.
He said each polio team was provided two extra-security personnel.The official said he assigned political tehsildar of Landikotal, Jamrud and Bara tehsils to personally monitor anti-polio campaign on daily basis.
The official said leave of all Khassadar and Levies personnel have been canceled to ensure best possible security to the polio teams. An official said the polio campaign continued on the second day and hundreds of children were vaccinated in Landikotal tehsil.
He said 166 Khassadars and Levies platoons were provided to 13 mobile polio teams in Landikotal. The official said they had deployed security personnel on various entry and exit points in Landikotal.
