LAHORE
Defence of Pakistan Council (DPC) has urged the Punjab government to review the cases of innocent Ulema, scholars and missing persons detained under various charges, besides scores of prayer leaders being harassed after putting their names in fourth schedule but nothing was proved against them.
This concern was expressed by a delegation of DPC headed by Steering Committee chairman Liaqat Baloch during a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister’s adviser for Internal Security, Rana Maqbool Ahmed Khan, on Wednesday.
The delegation apprised him of the concern regarding persons missing for a long time, and the arrests of Ulema and Khatibs under fourth schedule and the harassment of their families.
During the meeting, the CM’s adviser assured the delegation that the Punjab government has decided to take decisions on all such cases on merit and would ensure that law abiding and peaceful citizens were not harassed.
