PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Khan Durrani on Monday awarded the Nowshera Police team for excellent investigation that led to the arrest
of the dacoits and recovery of the looted money from them.
The awards were given at special ceremony at the Central Police Office in Peshawar, said an official handout.A resident of Akbarpura village in Nowshera district had got a report registered at the Akbarpura Police Station. He had stated that he along with other companions was going to Punjab in a car for buying cattle.
The resident said on their way unidentified accused on two motorcycles armed with pistols forced them to alight from the car. He said the armed men robbed them of Rs690,000 and cellphones.
The complainant said the culprits started beating them with arms when they offered resistance.
The Nowshera Police constituted a team for investigation. The team launched a probe. The culprits were arrested and the money was recovered.The accused confessed to have committed the crime. The complainant during identification parade recognised the accused as well.
Speaking on the occasion, the IGP appreciated the excellent performance of the investigation team.The IGP awarded the police team members. They included sub-inspectors Khadmin, Akhtar Naseer, Yasir Khan and constables Khalid Naseem, Ayaz and Tanveer. They received cash prizes and commendation certificates.
