Police accused of having released suspected drug peddlers
SUKKUR: The Khairpur Police allegedly released a suspected drug peddler and an excise inspector and closed the case.
The News has learnt from sources that Pasban CIA Police of Khairpur six days ago recovered opium and Charas from a vehicle during snap checking and arrested three suspected drug peddlers who during the investigation had revealed that an Excise Police inspector had been facilitating them.
Sources said that the CIA Police on that revelation had arrested the Excise Police inspector and kept him in custody for two days. Sources said that the CIA Police after two days freed him as well as an alleged drug peddler, Bilal, allegedly against a deal and dumped the case.
Sources said that one alleged drug peddler was still in police custody. When this correspondent contacted the SSP of Khairpur, Azfar Mahaisar, and asked him if it was true that the CIA Police had arrested an Excise Police officer and later released him, the SSP said he had no such knowledge at his disposal, but that he would check to see if any such thing happened. This correspondent later made many attempts to contact the SSP, but none of the attempts succeeded.
