The officials of Rawalpindi Police were awarded shields and admired for keeping complete peace during the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram during a special ceremony held here in Punjab Constabulary Battalion II Rawat with the collaboration of Global Peace Foundation (GPF) and PC Battalion II Rawat.
GPF Chairman Haji Mohammad Gulzar Awan presided over the ceremony while CPO Rawalpindi Israr Ahmed Abbasi was the chief guest on this occasion. SSP PC Rawat Syed Abid Abbas, other police officers, GPF CEO Sajid Kaleem Kiani and members of civil society were present on the occasion.
While addressing to the participants, Haji Mohammad Gulzar Awan admired the dynamic and energetic role of police in keeping peace and tranquillity during the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram. He said effective security arrangements of Rawalpindi Police did not let any mischief monger to create unrest on the occasion. He maintained that police and law enforcing agencies are not sole responsible for keeping peace in the society but we all, as a patriotic Pakistanis, should come forward and shoulder our responsibilities with regard to make our society free of crimes, terrorism and other social evils.
CPO Asrar Abbasi, while addressing on this occasion, appreciated active role of GPF in supporting police and said in accomplishing duty, police always required cooperation of members of civil society and we are thankful to GPF for its support. He also advised police official to discharge their duty with full devotion and honesty to achieve required results. He also admired Punjab Constabulary Battalion II Rawat.
Later on Haji Mohammad Gulzar Awan and CPO distributed shields among various police officers and officials for rendering marvellous job in maintaining law and order during Muharram-ul-Haran and on Ashura Day. CPO Rawalpindi presented a special shield to Haji Mohammad Gulzar Awan in recognition of his services.
