Islamabad: The government schools and colleges in the Islamabad Capital Territory will get all 70 buses being procured under the Prime Minister’s Education Sector Reforms Programme, in five months.
Of these buses, the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) regulating the ICT educational institutions through the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has so far secured five.
Another fleet of five buses is likely to reach the CADD this week, said an official in the know.
The official insisted there was a greater likelihood of all 70 school buses hitting the road by March to the benefit of students and staff members, especially those living in far-off areas.
He said buses were being procured as part of the PM Education Sector Reforms Programme watched over by the prime minister’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz, through a committee comprising some MNAs and FDE officials.
The official said the school buses were 60-65 seater and diesel-powered ones with the minimum 7,800cc engine.
