BANNU: The district council on Friday approved more than Rs5.813 billion budget for the fiscal year of 2016-17 amid uproar.
The council approved the budget with majority. Around 42 councillors out of the total 75 members of the house supported the budget document.
The opposition rejected the budget and termed its passage illegal and contempt of court, and staged walkout.
Opposition leader and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Malik Gul Baz Khan said the budget was passed in violation of the rules and regulations.
He said under the rules a district council was bound to pass the budget after three days of debate on it.
