The teachers and other staff members of Islamabad’s model colleges will boycott duty from Tuesday (October 25) over the Capital Administration and Development Division and Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) over failure to resolve their issues despite repeated assurances.

This was decided during a meeting of the Central Academic Staff Association Islamabad’s office-bearers with unit presidents, general secretaries, representatives, and Joint Action Committee of the model colleges’ teaching and non-teaching associations held at the Islamabad College for Boys, Sector G-6/3.

The decision was later formally conveyed to CADD Secretary Nargis Ghaloo, FDE Director General Dr Shahnaz A Riaz, adviser to the Prime Minister’s Education Reforms Programme Ali Raza and other relevant officials through separate letters.

The CADD regulates the ICT educational institutions through the FDE.

The CASA representing more than 2,000 faculty members of Islamabad’s model colleges has long been demanding upgradation of teaching and non-teaching staff, regular/time-scale promotions, revision of the existing promotion formulas, creation/re-designation of the posts, provision of monetisation allowance to employees of BPS-20 and above in line with the government policy, posting and transfer of principals, headmistress, admin officers and accountants on merit/seniority basis, timely release of salary to daily-wagers and permanent resolution of their problems, placement of the already-regularised employees in line with the directives of high court and CADD secretary, and establishment of separate directorate for Islamabad’s model colleges.
