NOWSHERA: The police officials reviewed the security arrangements as the two-day general congregation of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) is to begin at Azakhel today.
District Police officer Wahid Mehmmod said that a special cell would be established and 1300 cops have also been deputed. Provincial chief of JI, Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, told reporters that all arrangements for the congregation had been completed. He added a large number of women from tribal areas and abroad would attend the gathering.
The JI chief, Sirajul Haq, will address the gathering at 6pm. Meanwhile, people from far-flung districts have already started arriving at the spot on Friday. According to the JI workers, the ijtima will begin at 11, with central and provincial leadership as well as ministers in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government delivering their speeches till evening. Provincial Finance Minister Muzaffar Said will present a resolution for the provincial rights on the first day.
Special sessions will be held for women and youth in the afternoon. Councillors’ meeting and a poetry session will also be held on the first day of the gathering.
