New PPP Sindh chief Nisar Khuhro tells party activists to focus on 2018 elections as Bilawal will become next PM

The newly appointed Pakistan People’s Party Sindh president Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said on Friday that his party would not support any change in the present government set-up through unconstitutional means and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would go home through due democratic process.

Speaking to jubilant PPP activist during his visit to the People’s Secretariat for the first time after assuming his new responsibilities, Khuhro, who is also the provincial parliamentary affairs and food minister, said party activists should gearing up their preparations for the upcoming general elections in 2018.

He said the PPP would emerge victorious on the day of the next general polls in the country and party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would become the next prime minister.

He said both Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan had hit a dead-end as they could not dupe the nation anymore.

He added that besides Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan, who in the past had supported the referendum held by the then dictator Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf, had himself proved himself as an associate of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi by boycotting the recently convened joint session of parliament on the issue of Kashmir and Indian aggression there.

“Those who in the past stood up on somebody’s whistle are now ready to dance like a monkey performing to its master’s drumbeat,” he remarked.

He said the federal government of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz should accept the four demands of the PPP, put forward by Bilawal while addressing a rally in Karachi on October16, as after December 27, Nawaz Sharif would not get the chance to return from the dead-end that he had hit.

These four demands include the appointment of a full-time foreign minister, the revival of parliamentary security committee, the implementation of the joint resolution adopted by all parties’ conference convened by Asif Ali Zardari, and adoption by the parliament of the PPP-presented bill for accountability on a national level.

Khuhro said the image of Pakistan was suffering in the world because of flawed policies of Nawaz Sharif’s government.

He added that Sharif remaining the prime minister had come under question in the aftermath of the Panama papers scandal.

Khuhro said it would be better for the prime minister to present himself for accountability as the PPP would not allow him to escape.

“It is high time that the federal government adopts wiser ways for governance, otherwise it will have to face a tough situation after December 27,” he warned.

Political monopoly

Khuhro said Karachi would not fall to the political monopoly of one party again as its citizens would opt for the PPP.

He added that PPP activists should go to every nook and corner of Karachi for reorganizing and strengthening the party in the city.  He said the elements which would target the activists of the PPP in Karachi would be dealt with sternly.

Khuhro said terrorism and politics of prejudice had caused massive damage in the city and nobody would be allowed to interfere with the law and order situation in the future.

He said those who had tried to disintegrate Sindh in the past had disintegrated themselves.

The PPP Sindh chief said the party had condemned the PML-N government’s decision to shift some sections from State Bank of Pakistan from Karachi to Lahore and this conspiracy would never be allowed to materialise.

He said the PPP would organise a massive function in Ghotki on October 30 for the Hindu community to celebrate the festival of Diwali and Bilawal would attend the event.

The PPP Sindh president said the names of the PPP office-bearers in the rest of the province would be announced soon.
