PHF may take disciplinary action against Irfan

KARACHI: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) will most likely take a stern disciplinary action against Muhammad Irfan who was unable to join the national team for the ongoing Asian Champions Trophy in Malaysia due to non-availability of his passport, ‘The News’ has learnt.

Irfan had submitted his passport to an embassy of a foreign country to take part in a professional league.

The issue came into the knowledge of the PHF high-ups at the eleventh hour and it was then too late to retrieve his passport and apply for Malaysia. In the wake of this embarrassing situation, the PHF immediately removed him as captain of the national team.

Pakistan are the defending champions of the Asian Champions Trophy, and it is an important event since the senior team is already out of the other big events including the Olympics and World Cup.

Sources said that the senior officials had directed that necessary disciplinary action would be taken against him and the management after the Malaysian Tour is concluded.
