LAHORE
A large number of religious workers stated a sit-in at Faisal Chowk outside Punjab Assembly and blocked the busy The Mall to press for their demands for fulfilling the promises the government had made with them at sit-ins in Islamabad and Lahore last year.
Led by scholars and religious leaders, the slogan-chanting and banner-waving workers had earlier marched from Data Darbar and reached Faisal Chowk in the evening.
They were led by the leaders, including Dr Ashraf Asif Jalali, Dr Mufti Khadim Hussain Rizvi, Pir Afzal Qadri, Mukhtar Ashraf Rizvi, Mian Asif Naqshbandi, Ziaullah Qadri and Ghufran Mehmood Sialvi.
The sit-in continued till late night, causing serious problems to the commuters and businessmen.
