RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry has confirmed it has executed a prince found guilty of murdering a fellow citizen three years ago, Arab media reported on Tuesday.

According to a statement from the Saudi Ministry of Interior, Prince Turki bin Saud al-Kabir was found guilty three years ago by a Saudi court for murdering a young Saudi man during a dispute al-Thumama region in the outskirts of Riyadh. Saudi Arabia’s top court confirmed the ruling of capital punishment after the case passed through the appeals court, the Arab media reported.

It said the execution was carried out after the victim’s family refused offers of ‘blood money’ and demanded that justice be carried out. The Interior Ministry confirmed “King Salman’s keenness on enforcement of security, justice and God’s judgments,” said the statement. “Legitimate punishment would be the fate of whoever tries to assault innocent people and shed their blood,” it added.
