KARACHI: Mohammad Yamin Ahmadzai and Usman Khan Shinwari shared seven wickets to enable Habib Bank Limited (HBL) to dismiss Karachi Blues for 157 in their first innings on the opening day of their third round four-day Pool A fixture of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2016-17 here at the UBL Sports Complex on Saturday.

Yamin, right-arm pacer from Afghanistan, picked 4-36 and Shinwari, who has represented Pakistan in two T20 Internationals, captured 3-13 to help HBL bowl Karachi Blues out for a paltry total in 57.4 overs after they were invited to bat first by Ahmed Shehzad.

Left-arm Test discard Abdur Rehman claimed 2-33.

After losing Khurram Manzoor for a seven-ball duck, Fazal Subhan (39) and Haris Ali (28) added 59 runs for the second wicket to pave way for a decent total. However, after the partnership was broken Karachi Blues middle order failed to build on it with Mohammad Waqas (8), skipper Khalid Latif (0) and Waseem Ahmed (0) falling prey to Yamin.

At one stage Karachi Blues were 90-8. Test discard Mohammad Sami (44) helped his team reach a rather respectable total when he added 59 runs for the ninth wicket with Basit Ali (19). Sami struck five fours and a six from 62 deliveries before being removed by Laghman-born Yamin.

In reply, HBL were 51 for no loss in 16 overs.
