ABBOTTABAD: The first information report was registered against several police officials at the Nawansher Police Station on the orders of deputy inspector general of police Hazara in a case of an alleged police encounter in which one Junaid alias Joni was killed a few days ago.
Nawansher police station registered the case under Sections 302/148 and 149 and started search for the accused involved in the murder of Junaid.
Those booked include Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mirpur, Amjad Hussain, Station House Officer of Nawansher, Yar Khan, Additional SHO Aurangzeb Khan and Sub-Inspector Waqas Khan.
Junaid’s family said he was found dead in police custody, adding that he was arrested and later killed by the police.
The bereaved family and area residents staged protests demanding a probe into the incident. An inquiry committee was formed by DIG Police Hazara comprising SP Investigation of Haripur and Abbottabad along with other officials.
A jirga was also held to discuss the issue. People of the area staged protest rally in front of Nawansher Police Station and demanded early arrest of the people involved in the fake police encounter.
