Islamabad: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has extended last date for submission of admissions’ forms for its Matric to Master-level programs for the current semester till October 21 in order to bring maximum number of people in the educational net.
The opportunity has been made available for all the academic programs, notified earlier, except merit-based like Ph.D and M.Phil only in case of fresh students. Continuing students have been allowed to submit their forms before the extended date.
This decision was taken by the Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui in respond to the demands received from aspiring students, particularly those from the remote regions. He hoped that both fresh and continuing students would take benefit of the opportunity, provided to them as a special case, on payment of a minimum late fee.
Meanwhile, the admission test of merit-based programs will be held on October 15 to 20 and merit list of the selected candidates would be placed at the University’s website on October 31.
The merit scheme is in line with the ongoing efforts to ensure quality education, as per the guideline, provided by the Vice Chancellor, said a University’s official. Furthermore, the University has introduced ‘fee instalment scheme ‘in order to accommodate the poor and needy students.
Under the scheme, the students who are unable to deposit the whole fee of the semester could take benefit from this scheme, keeping in view the relevant rules and regulations. Sufficient amount has already been allocated to support poor and needy students through scholarships and fee-concession.
