Bahishti Darwaza opens at Baba Farid’s shrine

70,000 devotees to pass thru first night

PAKPATTAN: The Bahishti Darwaza was opened at the shrine of Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Masood Ganj Shakar (RA) here on Friday.

Sajjada Nasheen Dewan Madood Masood Chishti opened the Bahishti Darwaza for the devotees. Sajjada Nasheens of others shrines, religious leaders, DCO Irfan Ahmad, DPO Kamran Yousaf, ADC Arif Umar Aziz, AC Ashfaq Ahmad and thousands of devotees from various parts of the country and abroad including USA, Canada, Australia, India, Bangladesh and UK were present on the occasion. It is likely that 70,000 devotees would pass through the Bahishti Darwaza on the first night. Sajjada Nasheen Dewan Madood Masood Chishti distributed Langer among the devotees. The Auqaf Department and the district administration had made arrangements for the Urs and the devotees while police had also adopted strict security arrangements on the occasion. The administration has installed CCTV cameras and walk through gates to avoid any untoward incident during the Urs celebrations. The Bahishti Darwaza would remain opened for four more days for the devotees. Meanwhile, the devotees are facing problems due to alleged poor arrangements for their temporary stay by the Auqaf Department. The devotees claimed that the Auqaf Department collects billions of rupees from the funds of the shrines but the department does not provide facilities to the devotees.

LAWYERS STRIKE: The District Bar Association Pakpattan and the Tehsil Bar Association Arifwala members observed a complete strike against the government for not issuing a notification to establish the Lahore High Court Sahiwal Bench.
