Pakistani refugee elder shot dead in Afghanistan
PESHAWAR: Unidentified assailants gunned down an elder of Pakistani refugees in Afghanistan’s southeastern Khost province, officials said on Thursday.
“The unknown gunmen broke into the house of Omar Khan Wazir, an elder of Wazirstani refugees, in the Gulan Camp [in Gurbaz district] and martyred him,” Muhammad Mubariz Zadran, the spokesman of Khost governor, told the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).
The AIP dispatch from Khost said the assailants escaped, adding the incident happened late on Wednesday while security forces launched an investigation to arrest the killers.A large number of people migrated to Khost, Paktia and Paktika provinces after Pakistani security forces launched an operation in the tribal district Waziristan a few years ago.Pakistan has asked these refugees to return home.
