Schools and colleges to now have separate secretaries

Schools and colleges were now to have separate secretaries, as per the Sindh government’s decision to divide the Sindh Education and Literacy Department into two divisions, on Thursday.

A formal approval with respect to the decision came during a meeting held under the chairmanship of Sindh chief minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, while a notification in this regard was issued by Sindh chief secretary, Muhammad Siddique Memon.

The notification regarding appointing separate secretaries for the newly formed divisions was expected in a day or two, The News learnt.

However, Dr Fazlullah Pechuho, the current secretary education department was tipped to continue his work on the same designation while a name for the post of secretary colleges would be decided by the government.

According to concerned officials, private colleges would now be registered at the Directorate of Inspection, Registration of Private College.

The officials stated that the provincial government had created 13 sections under the College Education Department, whereas there would be a total of 20 sections in the School Education Department.

As per the notification issued, the college department would comprise of the Directorate General of Colleges, Directorate of Technical Education/Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority, Sindh Education Policy Commission for Higher Education, Directorate of Planning Division and Research for Colleges, Charter Inspection and Evaluation Committee, Sindhi Adabi Board, Education Works for Colleges, Construction Board Service Delivery Commission, Directorate of Human Resource and Training for Colleges and Directorate of Monitoring and Evaluation for Colleges.

The Sindh Education Department, on the other hand, would have Directorates of Schools Education (Primary, Elementary, Secondary and Higher Secondary), Directorate of Curriculum, Assessment and Research, Provincial Institute of Teachers Education, Directorate of Non-Formal and Literacy, Curriculum Wing, School Education Department (up to matriculation), Directorate of Planning Division and Research for Schools, Directorate of Inspection/Registration of Private Institutions, Directorate of Human Resource and Training, Directorate of Monitoring and Evaluation, Sindh Education Foundation, Reform Support Unit, Sindh Text Book Board, Sindh Education Policy Commission for Schools, Public Private Partnership Node, Complaint Resolution Cell, School Education Department, IT Data Centre (Karachi), Education Works for Schools, Construction of Schools through Consultants, Sindh Teachers Education and Division Authority and Accreditation Board/Service Delivery Commission.
