ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP),  Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, on Monday said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is a hurdle in transparent investigation of the PanamaLeaks scandal.

However, he pledged support to Nawaz Sharif on the issue of Kashmir and the tension at the Line of Control (LoC).“The political leadership of Pakistan is on one page on the issue of Kashmir and united and there will be no compromise on the rights of Kashmir,” Bilawal said while talking to media persons after a meeting of the parliamentary leaders at the Prime Minister’s House, which was summoned on the issue of Kashmir and security issues on the LoC.

The PPP chairman, accompanied by opposition leaders in the National Assembly and Senate Syed Khursheed Shah and Aitzaz Ahsan, PPP Vice President Sherry Rehman and Information Secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira, said India has lost morally on Kashmir and if Pakistan did not reply to India unitedly, then it will weaken our position. “The unity of the nation is the only way to counter the Indian aggression in the region,” he added.

He said there was no military solution to the Kashmir dispute and national unity alone could fend off the Indian aggression. Bilawal also termed the current imbroglio as a turning point in Pakistan-India relations. He said there was a consensus that war is not a solution and in the meeting, all the parties were on the same page for peace. “All those who were declaring Benazir Bhutto Shaheed as a security risk are now accepting that peace is the only option,” he added.

The PPP chairman said the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a vision of former president Asif Ali Zardari and he brought the Chinese for running the Gwadar Port.To a question, Bilawal criticised the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan for creating problems for other political parties with his solo flights. He said it was difficult to support Imran’s solo flights.

“The problem is that Imran Khan usually flies solo which creates problems for other parties. He makes plans on the PanamaLeaks but does not show the way forward,” he said, adding that Imran had made some very good points such as mobilising people on the issue of accountability.

Bilawal said the PPP in Pakistan had its own ideology and commitment. “We are restrained in a democratic framework and I am restrained by commitments to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto,” Bilawal said. He said the PanamaLeaks was a big international corruption scandal.

The PPP chairman said that he would not be involved in any act against democracy. “I hope to work with everyone to make sure Nawaz Sharif is finally held accountable for the crimes that have been exposed in the PanamaLeaks,” he said.
