CJ asks lawyers to advance legal profession’s benefit to poor

ISLAMABAD:The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, on Thursday stressed the lawyers to advance the benefits of the legal profession to the down-trodden and marginalised people of society by pleading their cases and providing relief to them.

The CJ was addressing the participants of 39th Roll Signing Ceremony of newly enrolled advocates of the Supreme Court held here wherein 54 new lawyers were enrolled as advocates of the Supreme Court.

Indeed, it is an important milestone in your career to be enrolled as advocates, Supreme Court of Pakistan; henceforth, you would be in a position to share more responsibility than usual as you have been appearing before the courts for a long period, the chief justice said.

The CJ said that being the members of a noble profession that ensures the rights of people, they must endeavor to advance the benefits of this profession to the down trodden and marginalised people of society by pleading their  cases and providing relief to them.

He congratulated them on their enrollment as advocates of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Senior Pusine Judge, alsograced the occasion with his presence. Attorney General for Pakistan, vice chairman Pakistan Bar Council, secretary Bar Council, President Supreme Court Bar Association, president Islamabad High Court Bar Association and other prominent lawyers and law officers also attended the ceremony.
