KP CM says govt striving to eradicate polio from KP
NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Monday said that the government had taken steps to eradicate the crippling polio disease from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the special anti-polio drive at the District Health Office, he said that improving health, education, policing and revenue was priority of his government.
He said that his government had implemented a mechanism for reforming the health sector across the province. “Providing better health services to underprivileged people in the province was the top priority of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI),” he added.
The chief minister said visible change could be noticed in the tertiary hospitals in the province while all the small hospitals and basic health units would be fully equipped till 2018. He said that 68 polio cases were reported in the province three years back. “The steps taken by the PTI government drastically reduced the polio cases,” he added.
Pervez Khattak announced upgrading the Pabbi hospital to category-B hospital, addingthat classes at the Nowshera Medical College would start in November. Meanwhile, the chief minister said his government performance made a difference which was visible as it introduced a new style of transparent governance.
He was talking in Peshawar to a jirga, hailing from Hangu, led by Amanullah. PTI leader Yousaf Ayub, Advisor to Chief Minister Akbar Ayub were also present. Amanullah, who announced joining PTI, added that he witnessed a visible change in all spheres of governance.
The chief minister said Pakistan needed honest leaders like Imran Khan, who could lead the country towards development. Welcoming the newcomers to the fold of PTI, he said the KP government stood for transparent and reformed governance in the province.
He called upon the people to rise to the occasion and strengthen the hands of Imran Khan for a new Pakistan.Pervez Khattak said his government eliminated political interference in public sector institutions and revamped them for the objectives for which these institutions were created. The chief minister hoped that the people of KP would change its past traditions and vote for PTI again.
