KHAR: Tribal elders of Barang tehsil in Bajaur Agency have urged the government to make no further delay in starting construction work on the Barang Degree College.
Speaking at a jirga at Memula area in Barang on Saturday, tribal elders including Gul Dad Khan, Mehrab Gul, Sar Zareen Khan, Asad Khan, Hazrat Khan and Bakht Sher said that the government should acquire the land for the college as further delay would not be tolerated.
They said the authorities had approved the college some two years ago but construction work on the building was yet to be started. The tribal elders also demanded the government to declare tehsil a calamity hit area and announce compensation package for the farmers as flash floods had damaged standing crops and orchards. They said that a former political agent had also announced establishment of Governor Model School in Memula area of the tehsil but work on the project was yet to be launched.
