India trying to fool UN on Kashmir: Siraj
Says Modi has avoided UN General Assembly session for second time this year as India’s face has been smeared due to continued HR violations in held Kashmir
ISLAMABAD: The Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that India has been staging some kind of a drama before the UN General Assembly session because India wants to hide her black face from the world at large.
He was talking to media after attending a national conference on the Afghan refugees issue here on Wednesday. Sirajul Haq said that Indian Prime Minister Modi had avoided the UN General Assembly session for the second time this year as India’s face had been smeared due to the continued violation of human rights in Held Kashmir.
Accordingly, New Delhi had managed the Uri attack itself to use it as a ploy to make out a case against Pakistan. Sirajul Haq called for creating an atmosphere conducive for the return of the Afghan refugees to their country.
He said the manner in which the refugees were being driven back was most improper. He said that sincere efforts should be made for peace in Afghanistan, and India should not be given an opportunity to strengthen her hold in the neighbouring country.
Sirajul Haq said that India was building major projects and dams in Afghanistan to win over the Afghans while the improper attitude of the Pakistan government was distancing the Afghans from this country.
The Jamaat chief said that education of the Afghan students studying in the country should not be disrupted, and the businesses of the Afghans in our country should not be affected. He said the refugees issue must be handled with prudence and in line with the UN Charter for Refugees. He, however, said that both the governments were violating the UN charter with regard to the Afghan refugees.
Sirajul Haq said that some Afghan refugees had been transported to their country in the darkness of night and were targeted by the Afghan army. Such a policy would destroy the goodwill this country and the Pakistani nation had earned by hosting the Afghans for decades.
Replying to a question about joining the PTI Raiwind march, the JI chief said that the JI had already planned a protest meeting at Faisalabad on September 30. However, he said that the Opposition would have a meeting on the PanamaLeaks in the first week of October to decide a future line of action in this regard.
Senator Sirajul Haq said that elections without electoral reforms would be a futile exercise and would not bring forth true representatives of the masses. Talking to different delegations in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said that elections had become a game of the wealthy wherein there was no room for the common man.
The JI chief appreciated US President Obama’s remarks in his address to the UN General Assembly that Israel could not continue her occupation of Palestine for long. However, he was disappointed over Obama’s failure to mention the Kashmir issue.
