CDA chairman suspends official for taking bribe

Mayor Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sheikh Anser Aziz has suspended an official of Estate Management Directorate on the charges of taking bribe.

He warned the officers and officials of the Authority to solve the problems of the visitors with honesty and demonstrate their best professional and ethical attitude on daily basis, adding that corrupt mafia would be dealt with iron hand.

He urged the officials of the Authority to shun dishonesty as it is not acceptable at any cost. Taking action on the complaints regarding irregularities in different affairs of Land and Rehabilitation Directorate, Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA Sheikh Anser Aziz also directed for confiscation and sealing of the record of the directorate and ordered a high-level probe in this regard.

Sheikh Anser Aziz paid a surprise visit to the offices of Land and Estate Management Directorates of the Authority and checked the attendance of the officials. During the visit, he also met the visitors who visited these offices in connection with their grievances and listen to their problems.

On this occasion, the director general (administration), deputy director general estate and land, director security and officers of concerned formations of the Authority were also present. Sheikh Anser Aziz also visited One Window Operation Directorate (OWO) where he met the visitors and asked about the behavour of the officials and other issues, particularly related to the transfer of property cases.

On the complaint, Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz suspended an official for taking bribe and directed all the officers and officials to ensure their daily presence in the office. He also directed them for addressing the problems of the visitors within the stipulated time without any hassle.

He directed for displaying instructions, mentioning the time period for completion of different works related to property. He further directed that the concerned formation of the Authority for installation of telephones at OWO Directorate so that the visitors could register their complaints against the corrupt officials.

He also directed director OWO and deputy director general land and estate to pay regular visits to OWO Directorate and solve the problems of the visitors. Sheikh Anser Aziz directed the concerned formations of the Authority for streamlining and computerisation of land related record and asked director security to coordinate for properly handling all the land related record so that it could be computerised at the earliest.

Later, he visited Revenue Directorate and Sports and Culture Directorate. He also asked the visitors about payment of dues on account of water and property taxes and allied charges. Besides, he visited the offices of Deputy Commissioner and Senior Special Magistrate, where he instructed for further improvement of the facilities.

The mayor MCI and chairman CDA expressed his commitment for making CDA a people-friendly organisation and said that all available resources would be extended to ensure punctuality in the Authority where the officials would serve the visitors with their best professional skills. He said that facilities available to the residents of Islamabad would further be improved. He urged the entire officials of the Authority to work with zeal and devotion as inefficiency would not be tolerated.

Meanwhile, Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz during a meeting with a delegation of representatives of traders community here at CDA Headquarters said in order to fulfil the responsibility and confidence of the prime minister regarding development of the federal capital, MCI and CDA require the cooperation of all stakeholders particularly that of the trader’s community.

The delegation was led by traders’ leader Ajmal Baloch while elected representatives of traders union of different markets and Marakiz and Chairmen, vice chairmen and other elected representatives of different union councils were also present on this occasion.

Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz said that for the first time development of the capital has been handed over to the elected representative, which is an honour for the elected representatives but it also puts a heavy responsibility on their shoulders regarding planning and development of the city and to serve its residents wholeheartedly.

He said that in this regard all the stakeholders will be taken on board so that visible change could be witnessed. He said that for the eradication of encroachments and carrying out development activities in different marakiz and markets, a joint strategy with the collaboration of traders union would be evolved.

He said that he will personally visit all markets and marakiz and provision all missing facilities would be ensured.  On this occasion, trader’s leader Ajmal Baloch congratulated the mayor for his new responsibilities and assured him full cooperation of traders’ community.
