Another team reaches Nandipur power
plant to probe oil purchase scam

GUJRANWALA: The Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) on Friday sent another team to the Nandipur power plant to investigate embezzlement in oil purchase. The inquiry team will submit its report to the high-ups on September 28.
The first team, which was sent by the Pepco to investigate tearing of the plant record, will submit its report to the federal government on September 18.
It is learnt that the investigation team has banned six accused officials from going out of the power station till completion of the inquiry. They are storekeeper Umer Farooq, senior clerk Munawar, Amanat Ali, Muhammad Shafiq, Abdul Karim and Noor Ali Pathan.
Power plant security in-charge Mehtab Alam, who is also involved in the case, has reportedly contacted the plant administration and expressed his willingness to appear before the inquiry team on condition of not being arrested. Another accused official Noor Ali has reportedly expressed his willingness to become an approver in the case.
