Chitral couple shot dead in Dir
HARIPUR: At least two persons were killed and another sustained injuries when rival groups exchanged fire over the ownership of land in Suraj Gali village in the limits of Khanpur Police Station, police officials said on Saturday.
They said that there had been a dispute between two groups over the ownership of a leased land in the hilly area of Suraj Gali.
The two groups, the sources said, exchanged fire on Friday night in which Amanullah, resident of Mardan, and Dilawar Khan, resident of Afghan Camp No 13, Haripur, were killed.
One Awal Daraz sustained bullet injuries and was shifted to Ayub Teaching Hospital in critical condition.
The police have registered a case and arrested more than 12 people from both parties.
Our correspondent in Hangu adds: Two persons were killed as rivals Saturday exchanged fire in Thall tehsil here, police sources said.
They said that members of two rival groups traded fire over an old enmity in Doaba area. As a result, the sources said, that two persons were killed on the spot in the incident.
The police lodged a case and started investigation.
Our correspondent in Timergara adds: A couple hailing from Arando village in Chitral was gunned down in Kandaro Payeen area of Lower Dir district early on Saturday, local and official sources said.
Sabitullah, hailing from Chitral and currently residing in Lower Dir, was shot dead along with his wife while they were asleep at their house in the limits of Balambat Police Station.
The second wife of Sabitullah has lodged the first information report with the police and nominated three people identified as Abdullah, Yaqoob and Arif, all of them residents of Arando village in Chitral.
Our correspondent in Nowshera adds: A man was shot dead over a petty issue in Kheshgi Payan here on Saturday, official sources said.
One Qasim told the police that Dilawar allegedly opened fire on his maternal uncle Sartaj in Gharibabad village, killing him on the spot. He added that they were going to watch a volleyball match in the village when the incident happened. The accused, however, managed to escape after committing the crime.
The body, after autopsy at the District Headquarters Hospital in Nowshera, was handed over to the relatives for burial.
The police registered a case against the accused and started investigation.
Transgender shot and injured in Peshawar: A transgender was slightly injured when an armed man opened fire on him in Pishtakhara area on Saturday.
Locals said the transgender, Farman, was shifted to hospital. The police said the accused Shahid was arrested and shifted for investigation.
Fake US dollars seized in Swat: The police seized fake 3,600 US dollars and arrested the accused in Kanju area of Swat district on Saturday, official sources said.
During snap checking, the police arrested Tariq, resident of Charsadda, and after seizing 3,600 fake US dollars from him. The police registered the case and started investigation.
